Future City: Full STEAM Ahead

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Prairie Junior High students participated in the 2017 Future City Competition. They worked with an engineer mentor and educator to imagine, research, design, and build a city of the future. Students used the engineer design process and a variety of technology tools to stay focused and organized, collaborate with one another, design a virtual city, research an authentic engineering topic, write an essay, and build a scale model city. At the regional competition, they presented their future city ideas to a panel of judges. This project-based program focused on STEM concepts and the Arts, combining the mind of a scientist/technologist with that of an artist/designer. Additionally, it taught a variety of 21st century skills essential for success: critical thinking and problem solving, creativity and innovation, communication, and collaboration. Full STEAM Ahead!
