App Authors: App Building Programs in School and Public Libraries

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

The App Authors project works with public and school libraries to develop programs that give children from all backgrounds a chance to explore, play, and eventually create their own apps. Regardless of coding experience, this programming gives learners of all levels a chance to gain familiarity with problem solving and to develop critical thinking skills. App Authors focuses on problem solving and community sharing while introducing fundamental coding skills. At this session, App Authors program leaders will present findings from our ongoing research. As we share examples of apps created by participants, express successes along the way, and offer suggestions for coding programs, we will also share tips for how to overcome obstacles when

planning tech-programs in libraries. Attendees will walk away with toolkit resources (including video tutorials and curriculum documents) for hands-on app-building program implementation.
