S.T.E.A.M.-ing it up! A Project Integrating Science, Technology, and Art

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Our seventh grade students participated in an integrated STEAM project during their Science and Art classes. They used many different forms of technology including an iPad app called Cell Explorer, a microscope, and their laptops which gave students access to Google Drawings and Google Classroom. Our students used their knowledge of the microscope and microscopic organisms and applied it to concepts related to the visual arts. Students took pictures of microscopic objects with an iPad and wrote detailed descriptions on Google Drawings using art elements and design principles. They shared their work on Google Classroom. Not only does our project use technology, it helps to incorporate Next Generation Science Standards, Common Core Standards, and Illinois Art Standards.
