Crack the Code! Spheros in the Math Classroom

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Introduce your students to coding through everyday Geometry! Presenters will show participants how to incorporate Sphero robots into a math classroom through various lessons in a Geometry class. Presenters will show how a Geometry teacher can incorporate Spheros and basic coding into their curriculum and the process to make the lessons seamless. Participants will get a hands on approach using the Spheros and learning the basic features to make a Sphero follow simple commands through the MacroLab App. Using MacroLab, participants will create a code to make the Sphero roll forward and backward specific lengths. These lengths will then be used as a ratio to make the Sphero drive longer distances. They will also use MacroLab to code the Sphero to follow a path in a square and change colors on each turn. Finally, participants will learn two Geometry lessons with the Sphero in a polygon and area unit.
